The Battle of the Atlantic was the longest continuous military campaign in World War II. It has been called the "longest, largest, and most complex" naval battle in history. The Allied struggle to supply Britain and the Axis attempt to stem the flow of merchant shipping which enabled Britain to keep fighting.
