১৯৭০ সালের নির্বাচনে রাজনিতিক নেতা বঙ্গবন্ধু মুজিবুর রহমান নিরঙ্কুশ আসন লাভ করে নিরবাচনে জয়যুক্ত হোন।
১৯৭৫ সনে ১৫ আগস্ট সপরিবারে নিসংশভাবে হত্যা হন জাতির জনক শেখ মুজিবুর রহমান।
