The free version is quite comprehensive. I have a question though. Does the paid version let you connect to a DGT Board? Or (according to some comments) do I need to fork out more money for DGT board connection even after buying the GM version?!

Has a choice of three chess engines and a somewhat confusing interface compared to say Droid fish. None of the three engines is compatible with Droid fish as they use a different protocol. The free version lacks the ability to use an available collection of additional engines as well as saving a current game to resume play later. You can upgrade to add additional worthy features, but its regular price is about $20 and requires about a half gig of storage space. Recommended if you can afford it.

Grand master Edition is no longer working sin mid-July 2024. It fails on connecting to the license server.

Perfect except this. Start a game. Go Position>New>Standard. Do the classic
2 move mate. Save PGN. Close. Open it in PGN explorer. En passant is broken
with any of the pawns that moved (so f/g for white and e for black). Even
if you do a new opening and make different moves. It sucks. I think affects
any PGNs that play to mate. It's sort of funny, actually. In my example, if
you go 2.e5-e4 instead of Qh4# and you go 3.d2-d4 and go back and play 3.d4
again, it keeps adding it as a new move in the move list (and as I
mentioned, you can't en passant). It's funny because you get lots of
arrows. Otherwise, perfect app. Edit: while I'm complaining, if you copy a
game's move list and paste it as a PGN, it won't accept it. I have to add
dummy info at the beginning for it to accept. It would be nice if the app
did it automatically. Sometimes I don't have the other info. Otherwise,
perfect app. Edit 2: and while I'm here, it would be super cool (like in
Droid Fish) if in the engine evaluations, you could show an engine's 2nd or
3rd best move and their evaluation as well as their best move. Multiple
variations would make me so happy. Otherwise, perfect app. Edit 3: I edited
my review. Otherwise, perfect app.

The free version of this application is VERY limited and is dependent on additional purchases to actually use it for more than testing a few chess engines. Read through all the reviews before building up your expectations.
