Not sync steps from Google fit app happens lots of times

The app is regularly off in terms of step count, and I cannot figure it out. Samsung Health says 10,854. Google Fit says 10,854. After running a manual sync on Active Fit, it says 9,941 - Nearly 1,000 steps behind and conveniently just under the 10k needed for the day. This happens quite often and if I don't catch it before the end of the day, then I miss out.

Never know if it's going to recognize my steps. Tried syncing with Health Connect, Google Fit, and Fitbit. It doesn't make a difference. They all show my correct steps. Active Fit says 0. Some days it will just work, some it does not at all.

Update the app please. It no longer tracks steps and does not log in gym visits automatically
