Actor App (actor.app) is an essential video and voice recording app that's built by industry professionals specifically for actors to create and share self tape auditions quickly and easily with their team of managers, agents, production and casting.
Actor App works in tandem with Casting Workbook, one of the leading platforms for casting solutions in the world with over 330,000 roles cast to date.
Casting Workbook was contracted by Twentieth Century Fox feature film casting to create the first digital audition management solution in 2003 and has been perfecting this process ever since.
Our video and voice recording features are robust yet incredibly simple to use and are designed to mirror current studio & network audition standards. Just some of the key professional functionality for video capture includes your ability to easily adjust lighting, zoom, shoot multiple takes including slates, add captions, titles and fades, trim clips and send individual clips or combine them and then drag-and-drop the order of clips and title cards. Clips can be renamed and when requested by your agent, a copy is sent to their dashboard for approval and sending to casting.
The best part is that everything can be shared and used with all other casting services. Active members to Casting Workbook can use their ID and password to access the app. If your agent or manager invited you to download the app please refer to their email invitation or contact Casting Workbook for your login details.

Wow! I am so happy I discovered this app! Self tape apps abound for iphones, but I was having a problem finding one that was compatible for my Android. Enter Actor App... Easy to use, great quality and best of all... AMAZING SERVICE AND SUPPORT! I called a few times to clarify some functions, as I had never even used my phone to record myself, no less create a title card, edit and send a link (or download file) for an audition. Each person I spoke to was fabulous - they all knew the app inside out and quickly removed my fog... LOL! They were kind, patient and very knowledgeable about all functionality as well as letting me know about future plans. I couldn't be happier - nor could my manager when he received my tape - on time and looking great. I totally recommend this app for auditions, especially if you're on an Android.

My one big request for the app developers is to make it responsive to voice commands for recording. I want to be able to say Action/Start/Record and Cut/Stop from my mark while recording instead of having to trim in out of the take later. If I'm self-taping without a reader/buddy there, I have to dash around to the other side of my phone set-up every time and that is energy and focus taking out of getting my best take.

Apart from the major unreliability issues with screen rotation and aspect ratio, this app simplified self tapes well and the quality is fine.

I use this app on my husband's IPhone but on my Android, there is no option to fade, add titles or captions. So frustrating!!! Please fix this. It's a pain in the butt to have to borrow a different phone all the time. Not impressed!

Terrible app if you are on an Android Phone. Although the response from the tech team was quick they admitted the app is useless to anyone on the latest version of Android OS. Perhaps when the next Android OS comes out they will be able to deal with it, but that's 6 months to a year away. So if you own a flagship google device, with a critically acclaimed camera and are using the latest version of Android this app is nothing but a headache. Yet there are many other apps that work splendidly on this phone for taping and editing auditions. Just not the Actor App which is its sole purpose. I told the tech team, and I will say it here again. GET NEW APP DESIGNERS!

Didn't have the option to fade for the longest time and now that it's available it fails every time you try to combine and upload, so it's like the feature still doesn't exist.
