Agenda Widget

When the highly appreciated Agenda Widget by roflharrison was discontinued and unfortunately no longer worked on my new devices, I decided to recode the features that mattered most to me.

The widget compiles a highly customizable overview of events from various calendars and displays them in a list. Unlike practically all comparable apps, it places special emphasis on the time zone in which an event is saved.

Unlike usual, events are not converted into the local time zone; instead, they are always listed with the local time of the event along with its time zone. The abbreviations for the time zones used can be freely customized.

Multi-day events can optionally display the date of the final day.

Customization options include the free choice of font styles and colors depending on the event status (past, active, upcoming, multi-day), the formatting of individual events, and the overall layout of the list.

The alarm feature has been redesigned from scratch and brought up to date with modern Android technology. It either uses the reminders programmed into the events or, optionally, a general reminder for all events in a calendar. The latter makes it very easy to create custom birthday reminders for all your contacts—even a few days in advance if desired.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who is still using the app despite the very long absence of updates. I have now brought it up to date with modern Android technology so that the alarm feature works again as well.

*** Permissions Requiring Approval ***

READ_CALENDAR
Required to compile the events for the overview list. Without this permission, an event overview app simply cannot function.

WRITE_CALENDAR
Every now and then, technical issues occur when apps try to access calendars—sometimes not all events are delivered upon request. If a calendar is stuck in this unsynchronized state, the problem can be fixed by writing to a specific setting. This is the only write access this app ever performs, and it only does so with the user's explicit permission.

POST_NOTIFICATIONS
Required if you want to use the reminder feature.

Special Permission to Modify "Do Not Disturb" Mode
Depending on the event title or description, the device can automatically switch to "Do Not Disturb" mode. If you want to use this feature, the app requires this special permission.
