Alif Bay Jeem

Alif Bay Jeem is a free and fun-filled way to learn how to write Urdu Haroof e Tahajji (the alphabet of Urdu language) along with their Phonics. The app uses the tracing activity to teach your kid the formation of the Urdu alphabet.

Alif Bay Jeem is a unique app, created for toddlers who are eager to learn Urdu Haroof-e-Tahajjai. The content and the theme of the app is specially designed for the people in the South Asian region where Urdu is the native language. It uses a variety of engaging graphics, reward systems and fun activities to enthral the users. The localized content includes a character named "Mano" that interacts with the users in the Urdu language. The app engages the users with appreciation and gifts which they can add to their gallery and keep the users on their toes with the time-out features.

This app has been developed by the Department of Innovative Technologies in Learning (ITL) at the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) in Islamabad, Pakistan. This degree program is a first of its kind in Pakistan which addresses the critical issues facing the world of educational technology today. It provides students with the motivation and drive to reach out to the masses and enables them to design the most creative and innovative solutions to tackle the dearth of quality education in the country.

The department underwent the challenging task of making an Urdu tracing app to provide our youngsters with a fun-filled way to learn Urdu. There are plenty of such apps for other languages like English, French etc. But the Urdu language has very limited resources on the digital platform. Through this app, anyone can learn Urdu Haroof-e-Tahajji without any prior knowledge and the score section can help them evaluate their performances.

In future, the tracing activity will be followed by further detailed activities which will allow the users to learn complete Urdu language basics along with the reinforcement activities.
