Ancient Calendars: Moon & Sky

Ancient Calendars shows today through nine of humanity’s great ways of counting time — Maya, Egyptian, Celtic, Hebrew, Islamic, Christian, Chinese, Hindu and Ethiopian — side by side, with the real moon and sky above them.

Every date is calculated, not copied from a table: true moon phases, Chinese and Hindu leap months, Easter for East and West, Umm al-Qura Hijri dates, and festivals worked out for any year. Everything is fact-checked and respectfully told.

NEW IN 1.7
• Journeys — short, hands-on stories for each tradition: turn the Maya gears, light the Hanukkah candles night by night, sight the new crescent at sunset, work out Easter yourself. Finish one to earn a stamp in your Passport.
• Cosmic Birth Certificate — the real moon on the night you were born, your date in every tradition, and what each one says about your day. Save it or share it.
• Sky Events — eclipses, supermoons, meteor showers and ancient alignments: watch the sun enter Newgrange, Stonehenge and Abu Simbel.
• Tonight’s Sky — the planets and bright stars visible from your city tonight, with a point-at-the-sky view.
• The Moon — drag through time to watch the phases change, with moonrise and moonset for your city.
