By ivan gabrovski, from Google Play“App simulation of the Solar System with Kepler orbits, scaling and speed control”
Description by ivan gabrovski Written by the developer, not by AppBrain. Click to read.
Project simulation of the Solar System with Kepler orbits, scaling and speed control.
How the simulation works:
The positions of the eight planets are calculated from the real Kepler orbital elements at JPL (Standish), with Kepler's equation solved using Newton's method.
It starts from today's date.
Possibilities:
Top view of the ecliptic plane with a starry background, glowing Sun, orbits, names, fading trails and rings of Saturn.
Speed from 1 hour/s to 10 years/s, pause and time reversal.
Tapping the date opens a date selection (1800–2050, the range of accuracy of the items).
Two-finger zoom, drag to move, double-tap to reset view.
Tapping a planet shows a map with:
distance to the Sun and to the Earth (AU and million km)
orbital velocity (vis-viva)
period
the elements a, e, i
Condensed scale (√r) to see both Mercury and Neptune. Can be turned off for true proportions.
Languages: English (default), Bulgarian, German, French and Spanish, with a switch in the menu independent of the device language.
