Description
A world collapsed by Peccatomania—the Original Sindrome—that leads to harming self and others. To save his little sister, Kristin, who has developed Peccatomania, Rust logs into the full-dive online game "Archetype Arcadia" which is the only means to suppress the symptoms. Hope, lamentation, joy, betrayal, and inevitable death exist in the game where people fight by changing their memories into Avatars. The reviews that say there's no gameplay kind of miss the point of the visual novel genre, though admittedly this one has very little story branching. It is mostly just reading a story with the occasional options to make a (typically) binary choice that has a right and wrong answer. The story is a bit of anime style trope-y but despite this, I really ended up liking this story much more than I expected. It's just a very "hope in hopeless situation" story and is well written overall.

When I downloaded this, I knew it was a visual novel & not a game, cos it SAYS it's a VISUAL NOVEL (people that give this a poor rating due to it not being a game). Though it's not MY jam, it IS a most beautiful, labor of love.

An incredible visual novel. It's 40-50 hours long reading quickly and is fully voice acted in Japanese. About 90% of what makes it good is the story. The characters all have an interesting backstory and act as characters instead of plot devices. There is often a build up to moments that will move you to tears. Virtually no plot holes. It's worth reading despite typos, a slow start, decisions that don't add anything, and out of place suggestive scenes (few and far between.) Strong writing overall

If religious stories turn you off, avoid this. Starts out "I am a sinner". I pushed past the opening line and the story just went downhill from there.
