For example, there are over 100 different ways to sign “Birthday” and “Picnic” ASL signs vary in different parts of the country and even in different small social groups. We tried to take this into account and provide signs that are most commonly used.

What a blessing! I cannot describe the relief and joy I experienced while comforting an elderly deaf daughter who could sign but not read lips during the receiving of friends after her mother's passing. No one present knew ASL! When she took the DroidX and realized what was being signed by the on-screen model emotion finally came to her so silent isolated world. I intend to learn signing, until then, thank you for giving compassion a voice.

This app is awesome! Whoever came with this technology is a genius! If you're on the go, or teaching your baby signs and need a quick word or sentence, this is your app! Only thing is some signs are old, some simple signs are finger spelled. The common phrases can be a tad confusing because there are no subtitles while they sign, so it is kinda hard to see what sign is what. But I don't care! This app is still awesome! Support still responds even though the app hasn't been updated since 2014. But really It's still great! Worth the 5 bucks for sure!

Huh? Not a great app. The interpreters move their hands no fast you can't make out the movements and all of my deaf friends tell me that a good portion of the signs are completely wrong and some they've never seen before. Uninstalling and do not recommend.

ASL TRANSLATOR just installed asl translator on my system....where do I find the app? I see it but it will not open.

I showed this app to my ASL professor, who is Deaf and a native signer, and she said some of the translations are incorrect. This could be due to regional differences since we're on the East Coast, but still, make sure to double-check the translations with an actual Deaf person before using them in day to day life.
