The ASTB (Aviation Selection Test Battery) is used by the U.S. Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard to select candidates for pilot and flight officer training programs. A shorter version called the Officer Aptitude Rating (OAR) is used for Officer Candidate School (OCS). These exams determine a candidate's potential success in military officer training programs. Higher scores provide more opportunities in the naval services.

The OAR includes 3 subtests: Math Skills Test (MST), Reading Comprehension Test (RCT), and Mechanical Comprehension Test (MCT). The ASTB contains these plus four additional subtests: Aviation and Nautical Information Test (ANIT), Naval Aviation Trait Facet Inventory (NAFTI), Performance Based Measures Battery (PBM), and Biographical Inventory with Response Validation (BI-RV). This app covers all tests and is the only product with simulators for the Dichotic Listening Test, Terrain Identification Test, UAV Component, and PBM Stick and Throttle portions.

The ASTB and OAR are digital adaptive tests, adjusting question difficulty based on correct/incorrect answers.
