By Arcadia, from Google Play“Your birth chart drawn across the Earth: planetary lines, places, relocation.”
Description by Arcadia Written by the developer, not by AppBrain. Click to read.
Your chart is cast for one place. The same instant, read from a different longitude, puts different bodies on the angles — and that is what this maps: the lines on Earth where each planet stood exactly overhead, underfoot, rising or setting at the moment you were born.
WHAT IT DOES
• Planetary lines for ten bodies on all four angles — Midheaven, Nadir, rising and setting — over a world map you can pinch, zoom and pan. Meridian lines run straight, horizon lines curve, and where a curve stops the body never touched the horizon at those latitudes that day.
• Tap a line to read it. Forty readings, one for every body on every angle, each written as the meeting of two things: what the body is, and what the angle governs. Mars and Saturn lines carry what they cost — a malefic line is never sold as a clean win.
• Ask about a place. Search any of 732 cities and see the lines running near it, given twice: in degrees, which is how far the body stood from the angle, and in kilometres across the ground, which is what you would actually travel. They are not the same question — a degree of longitude is 111 km at the equator and 23 km at Svalbard.
• The relocated chart. The same sky, read from somewhere else: which bodies are angular there, and which houses move. Signs, degrees and dignities do not change, and the app says so rather than implying you get a new chart.
• Local space. Not where on Earth a body was angular but which direction it stood in from your birthplace — the compass of that moment, carried out along a great circle.
• Best places for a purpose. Career, home, vitality, partnership, ranked over the whole city list on classical grounds: work is read on the Midheaven lines, following Ptolemy (Tetrabiblos IV.4), not on preference. The modern planets are drawn but not scored, because no classical author has anything to say about them, and the app tells you that instead of hiding it.
• Line crossings, with the nearest city as a landmark and the latitude as the actual signal.
• Fourteen short articles on how the technique works and what it can honestly claim.
WHAT IT IS, PLAINLY
The mapped form of this is modern: Jim Lewis, mid-1970s. Local space is Michael Erlewine's, the crossings are Bernadette Brady's. What the lines are read with is classical — a planet on an angle, which is as old as the practice. There is no invented ancient lineage here, and the history article says all of this in the open.
COMPUTED ON YOUR DEVICE
Every position is calculated on the phone from a shared ephemeris — no data files, no lookups, no network. Longitudes agree with JPL Horizons to better than a tenth of a degree, and the map is drawn from the sky's real geometry, ecliptic latitude included, so a rising line is where the body actually rose.
Time zones are worked out from the place and the date rather than typed in, and the app tells you what it did with yours: whether summer time was in force at that moment, and that it needs no correcting, because a chart is cast from an instant and the instant is the same whichever offset named it.
Your birth data stays on your device.
