Description
The Programme
Athletics 365 is a multi-event, young people’s development programme, which introduces athletes to the fundamental skills of athletics which are vital to every sport. Since its inception in 2010 Athletics 365 has taken the sport of Athletics by storm, including winning the 2014 European Athletics Innovation Award.
Created by England Athletics, the governing body for athletics in England, Athletics 365 it is aimed predominantly at 8-15 year olds, but the resources can easily be adapted for use with younger athletes. Athletics 365 focuses not only on how fast someone runs, or how far someone jumps or throws, but also, more importantly, on developing the technical skills (‘how’ to run, jump and throw) required to perform at full potential and move like a champion.
The App
The Athletics 365 App is designed to support coaches, athletics clubs and other sports clubs to provide young people with a high quality, fun and enjoyable experience of athletics and developing athleticism.
This App is full of useful information on how to plan youth development training programmes; provide progressive coaching for all athletics events, deliver fun inclusive games and activities and provide opportunities for young athletes to measure and record their progress.
The Athletics 365 App is a great coaching tool to support coaches and clubs to provide high quality progressive coaching for athletes from novice to advanced levels . Please note in App purchases are required for certain resources.
The App is Split into four sections:
What is Athletics 365?
This section of the App explains what the Athletics 365 programme is and how it can be used to maximise your coaching when working with young developing athletes. This section includes a copy of the full Athletics 365 Curriculum for coaches. The Curriculum doubles up as a series of challenges for the athletes to progress through.
Coaching Athletics 365
The Coaching Athletics 365 section contains both indoor and outdoor training programmes for young athletes; Coach Support Cards to help coaches deliver the Athletics 365 programme across almost all athletics events; over 50 Games cards which are designed to help provide fun and creative ways of delivering athletics, and programmes and resources designed to help measure an athlete’s improvement and progression.
Athletics 365 for Athletes and Parents
This section of the App contains useful supporting resources and information for athletes and parents to help further develop their athletics skills. Included within the section are Athlete Handbooks which allow the athletes to learn more about how to complete the Athletic 365 challenges in addition to providing supporting advice on how to develop their athletics skills.
Athletics 365 for Clubs
Information on how to implement the Athletics 365 Programme within a club or community setting, along with information on how to run Youth Development Competitions (Under 17 years of age) can be found in this section.

It seems that EA are conflicted about this resource. They want to make it accessible as an electronic document, but they don't want it to be free. Therefore, this great resource is locked behind a mysterious paywall and stuck inside an app where the great documents are imprisoned and left to die. The athlete's handbook would be great and has places to the athletes to answer questions, sign off challenges, record progress and measure height. Shame that there is no way to actually print anything
