Even Facebook's first version had a good UI in 2004. It doesn't matter how well you're doing on the backend; what matters is what you're presenting to the user. Nowadays, building user trust and interest requires a fast and responsive UI. Go and hire a UI designer. Take this as feedback; what I've shared is truly valuable.
