Description

This app continuously captures camera images in the background for timelapse videos (see video link for a sample).

Delay between images is adjustable down to 1 second.
Normal phone operation can continue with minimal CPU load.

Note: images are saved on SD card as JPEG. Not yet tested on Android 10, which introduced changes to external storage handling.

This app is open-source under GPL. The source code is available at https://github.com/floe/Background-Timelapse

Works great but only captures 640x480 vga resolution to .yuv files. And then it requires a slow conversion to PNG, taking up extra space on sd card. File names are not timestamped. Not been updated for 3 years. Free and reliable though, and open source.

Does just what it says Great app on my Cyanogen loaded Samsung Captivate. Running this in background to time lapse motorcycle rides while OSMAN runs to show me the route. Converted pics (PNG) are easily converted to video using Virtual Dub on PC. Being able to run in background is critical, and this does it effectively. Thanks!

Crap! Only took 45 images of my planned 2h lapse (2000ms interval), then stopped without any notice. Probably stopped working right after it was put into background when I turned the screen off. Totally useless bullshit! Android 4.0.4 on Sony Xperia S.
