Backyard Chickens: Egg Tracker

Backyard Chickens is an egg tracker and flock manager for people who collect eggs every morning. It replaces the notebook by the coop door with a real egg log: count today's eggs in seconds, record them by flock or by individual hen, and watch your laying trends build over the season. When you have a question about breeds, coop size or molt timing, the built-in AI advisor gives plain-English husbandry guidance.

Keeping chickens produces more numbers than most people expect: daily counts, feed costs, molt cycles, and which hen actually earns her keep. This poultry app turns those numbers into a simple daily habit, so the few seconds you spend logging this morning's eggs add up to something useful by the end of the year.

WHAT YOU CAN DO
• Egg counter and egg log: record each collection by flock or per hen, in a couple of taps
• Multiple flocks: keep separate groups of birds with their own notes and history
• Per-hen records: breed, age and production history for each bird, not only a flock total
• Laying trends: see egg production rates, a producer ranking for every bird, and molt forecasts built from your own log
• Chicken breeds library: reference details on common backyard chicken breeds before you add new birds
• AI coop and breed advisor: ask which breeds fit your climate and how big your coop should be (general guidance only, never veterinary advice)
• Feed and cost tracking: see your real cost per egg instead of a guess
• Coop notes: location, temperament and care routines saved with each group
• Full history at a glance: days logged and eggs collected over any stretch of time, per group or per bird
• Optional daily reminder so the morning count never slips

AN EGG TRACKER BUILT AROUND THE DAILY HABIT
Most chicken keepers do not need a spreadsheet, they need a place to tap in today's number before they forget it. Backyard Chickens opens straight to today's collection, with a streak to keep you going. Tap in this morning's eggs, add a note if a bird looks off, and you are done. Over the weeks that simple log becomes a record of how your laying hens really perform through heat, cold, molt and daylight changes.

POULTRY MANAGEMENT WITHOUT THE PAPERWORK
• Real trends, not just totals: molt forecasts and laying-rate charts come from your own history, not a generic chart
• Per-hen detail when you want it: know which bird is still productive and which has slowed down
• An advisor that knows your setup: breed and coop guidance factors in your climate and the size of your flock
• Cost clarity: feed tracking turns "how much does this hobby cost" into an actual number
• Chicken care notes that stay with your birds, so the routine does not depend on memory

WHO IT'S FOR
• Backyard keepers with a few hens who want a simple daily egg counter
• Homesteads and small farms managing several flocks and dozens of laying hens
• New chicken keepers choosing their first breeds and sizing a chicken coop for the first time
• Anyone who wants a real number for what the hobby costs
• Anyone who has wondered which hen stopped laying, and when

FREE AND PRO
The daily egg log is free for one flock, with a 30-day history window. Pro adds more flocks, full history and the complete analytics: laying-rate trends, molt forecasts, per-hen rankings and feed cost analysis.

A NOTE ON HEALTH
The advisor gives general husbandry and chicken care guidance, not veterinary advice. For a sick or injured bird, always consult a poultry vet. Day to day, it is the daily log, the per-bird records and the laying trends that turn keeping chickens into something you understand instead of guess at.
