BandSight

Explore radio activity with a portable, receive-only field toolkit. BandSight pairs a compatible RTL-SDR USB dongle with your Android phone so you can inspect a live spectrum, listen to supported FM and AM signals, scan a band, and organize local findings. English and Spanish are built in.

HARDWARE REQUIRED

Live radio features require a supported RTL2832U receiver with an R820T2/R860-family tuner, a suitable antenna, and an Android device with USB Host/OTG. Connect through a data-capable USB adapter or powered hub as needed. A phone by itself does not provide this SDR receiver. Help and saved local records remain available without a dongle.

TOOLS FOR THE FIELD

• View the live spectrum and waterfall from your connected receiver.
• Listen with wideband FM, narrowband FM or AM demodulation.
• Choose tuning presets for FM broadcast, airband, NOAA weather, marine VHF, amateur radio, selected land-mobile ranges and sub-GHz ISM bands, or enter a custom frequency.
• Scan a frequency range for activity, with pause and resume controls.
• Use a signal finder with an optional audible indication.
• Capture supported OOK/ASK pulse patterns on selected ISM bands and organize device/button fingerprints. Reception and decoding depend on the signal and hardware.
• Save stations and captures, mark favorites and search your records.
• Import and export CSV collections through Android's file picker. Record received demodulated audio and export the completed WAV recording.

LOCAL DATA AND CLEAR LIMITS

BandSight has no INTERNET permission, account, sign-in, advertising or analytics. It does not upload received content. Stations, captures and device libraries stay on this device until you choose to export them. CSV and WAV exports are ordinary unencrypted files; a cloud provider selected in Android's file picker handles that transfer under its own policy. Automatic Android backup is disabled.

BandSight is receive-only. It does not transmit, replay, jam, unlock devices or decrypt cellular or other encrypted communications. The tuner covers approximately 24–1766 MHz with suitable hardware and antenna; Wi-Fi and Bluetooth at 2.4 GHz are outside that range. Presets identify tuning ranges, not permission to monitor a service. Follow the rules that apply to reception, recording and sharing in your location.
