Description
BasKita is a mobile application which is able to track the location of shuttle buses within the UKM Bangi campus. The purpose of BasKita is to encourage and improve the ridership of shuttle bus for UKM Bangi campus among students, lecturers, staffs, and visitors. Users of BasKita will be able to view the information and location of any bus on its route with the estimated time of arrival in real-time.
The Vehicle Unit is able to provide the first-hand announcement via this application to provide immediate updates and the notification will be delivered instantly to connected users.
The BasKita application comprises of a few main features, including: - Real-Time Tracking: Able to view the live location of buses - Find Nearest Bus Station: Provide suggestion to the nearest bus station with the distance in a 500-meter radius. - Estimated Time of Arrival: Provide the estimated time of the bus will arrive at the bus stop based on the user's location.
The app is currently under beta testing. You may provide feedback through the hamburger (triple dot) button at the top right corner. Select "Feedback On App" and you may leave your feedback there or email address provided.

It's a really good initiative from UKM on caring about student's welfare. Students will never miss the bus anymore with this app. I use it to travel around in UKM and I would say the arrival is accurate enough, at least for location based approach. Students can also make complaints on bus services and app related issues to improve them. There is still room for improvement, but for now it is considered good enough as the app is still in beta phase. Hopefully UKM can make it better! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

It's good to see that bus tracker apps have been found in universities like UM, UPM, and now it's UKM's turn! Hopefully the developer team from UKM has learned from those other institutes and this should be the best among all. As a PT enthusiast, this app should exist for operators especially RapidKL. There is for Smart Selangor, but should be expanded to RapidKL as well. Anyway, good job to UKM, and hope this kind of apps can bring attention to bus operators especially RapidKL.
