Beyond the Visual-
The Worcester Art Museum’s official app for visitors with visual impairments makes it easy to access the arts! Listen to descriptions of select pieces from the Museum’s collection and learn about the artworks. Colors, details, and important background information are presented on demand and at one’s own pace. The goal of this app is to make the Museum more accessible to a larger variety of guests and ensure that everyone can engage with the collection.
To use, download the app and either enjoy it at home, or tap your mobile device at designated points within the Museum, where you will be guided to select artworks in a specific gallery. Then, click on an artwork you want to learn more about.
This app is part of a collaboration between the Worcester Art Museum, Worcester Polytechnic Institute, and Audio Journal. It is currently under construction, and the Museum is excited to make further improvements in subsequent iterations.
Recent changes: Use the Navigate to Art Piece page to get step-by-step directions to art pieces! This feature is currently limited to select rooms in the European Galleries and is under construction.
