Bildgeber

Bildgeber is a plain offline video player for files already on your phone. No accounts, no streaming, no library service, and no network permission at all. It finds your video files, remembers exactly where you stopped in each one, and gets out of the way.

Most stock players forget your position the moment they close. Bildgeber saves it twice — by media ID and by file path — so it survives a re-index, a USB transfer, or a move to another phone. A file watched to within eight seconds of the end counts as finished and starts fresh next time, not on the credits.

The library groups files by folder, which for video is the only grouping worth having. Add as many source folders as you like — internal storage, a memory card, a USB drive — or leave Settings empty to show every video on the phone. Files you have started appear in a Continue Watching row at the top, labelled with how much is left. Long-press to remove one. A Settings toggle turns the row off entirely if you share the phone.

Volume, brightness, scrubbing, and seeking are all controlled by touch with no hidden menus. Swipe up or down on the right side of the screen for volume; the left side adjusts screen brightness for this window only. Slide sideways to scrub through the file, with the target time shown before you let go. Double-tap left or right to jump back or forward. Tap anywhere to show or hide the controls.

Subtitle files in .srt, .vtt, or .ass format placed next to the video are found and offered automatically, along with any tracks the container carries. Audio language and subtitle selection are available from a single button that only appears when there is something to choose between.

H.264, HEVC, VP9, AV1, and more, in MP4, MKV, WebM, AVI, MOV, and a dozen other containers. Hardware decoding first, with automatic software fallback — and a clear error message if a file genuinely cannot play, rather than a black screen.
