This app can be used anywhere, even if you are offline. It describes ALL the bird species that have been recorded in Southern Africa to date, a total of 991 species. Packed with the latest information on all these birds, it focuses on identification, confusion with other closely related species, behavior, and habitat preferences. Displaying close to 4000 colour photographs, it contains the most impressive collection of beautiful photographs of male, female, juvenile, breeding & non-breeding, subspecies, and other colour variations. By scanning the bird in the book, or searching for it in the Alphabetic Index will unlock the calls of the bird. The brand-new colour-coded distribution maps are based on the latest information and show the status and abundance of each species. The bird species are divided into 10 colour-coded groups, according to their external characteristics and behavior. This, together with the alphabetic and Quick Index, will help the user to find and identify the correct bird effortlessly.

Easy to use with high quality photos. Intended to work with the book but equally good as standalone. Good addition to my birding apps.

Many of the sounds between this App and the Sasol App is a bit different. I like the clarity of the sounds on this app. I will still use the Sasol App as there are some sounds there that appear not to be available on this App yet.

I bought the new book and app. Problem that I have is if you scan the bird in Afrikaans it appears in the bookmark with an english description. And the bookmarks/ my list does not give you a total for your bird count. And Therefore I still have to update my Roberts app as well. Maybe you can improve the app. Regards Marian Matthew

I saw this app on an Afrikaans program, but I cannot even search for a bird with the Afrikaans name. You must have an option to search the Afrikaans name as well - everybody knows that such an app is not useful if you only know the Afrikaans names. The description of the app did not give any detail on this so in my view I actually wasted my money.
