Book of Enoch: Audio & Study

NEW IN THE APP: JUBILEES AND JASHER
The Book of Jubilees (R. H. Charles) and Sefer HaYashar, the Book of Jasher (a medieval Hebrew midrash, Browne translation), each in English and Hebrew, with English audio.

The Book of Enoch (1 Enoch) is one of the great surviving works of ancient Jewish literature from the Second Temple period. Attributed to Enoch son of Jared, the man of Genesis 5 who walked with God, it tells of the Watchers, the fallen angels whose children were the Nephilim, of the judgment set for them, of the courses of the sun and the moon, and of visions that run to the end of days. This app gives you the complete book, all 108 chapters, with the Ge'ez text and five translations, to read, to listen to, and to study at your own pace.

THE COMPLETE BOOK, ALL FIVE PARTS
- The Book of the Watchers, chapters 1 to 36
- The Book of Parables, 37 to 71
- The Book of the Luminaries, 72 to 82
- The Book of Dream Visions, 83 to 90
- The Epistle of Enoch, 91 to 108

Every chapter is numbered verse by verse, so you can find and cite any passage.

READ THE GE'EZ TEXT ITSELF
The Book of Enoch survives complete only in Ge'ez, classical Ethiopic, and the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church holds it as part of the biblical canon. This app includes the Ge'ez text, chapter by chapter, so you can open the book as it has been read in Ethiopia for centuries and compare it with your translation.

FIVE TRANSLATIONS
- English, the R. H. Charles translation of 1917
- German, the Riessler translation of 1928
- Russian, the Smirnov translation of 1888
- French, the Martin translation of 1906
- Swedish, the translation of 1826

A community chat inside the app lets you discuss what you are reading with other readers.

WHAT THE BOOK OF ENOCH IS
1 Enoch is not part of the Hebrew Bible or of most Christian Old Testaments. It belongs to the apocrypha, the ancient Jewish writings that circulated widely in the Second Temple period. Aramaic fragments of it were found among the Dead Sea Scrolls at Qumran, it shaped how that generation thought about angels, judgment, and the calendar, and the complete text survived in the Ethiopian manuscript tradition. Whether you come to it as scripture, as history, or out of curiosity about the Watchers and the Nephilim, the app gives you the text itself, to read for yourself.

The app interface is available in English, German, Russian, French, and Swedish.
