Box Control by Pro-Ject Audio

★★★★★ Box Control is an excellent app! Allowing me completely control my Stream Box DS+ including all ins/outs, volume etc. The latest version supports full screen on tablets and, especially my old tablets with obsolete OS that I use as designated remote controls through the house. Very simple, no quirky menus, no overwhelming graphics just all the stuff that I need. I planing to buy Pro-Ject remote box to be able to use it with my IR controlled audio appliances.

★★★★★ Mostly works with my Musical Fidelity M1 CliC streamer in combination with Media player on windows 8.1. Since Mu-Fi only provide an i-phone app this is the best & only alternative to the infrared remote and small screen on the streamer itself. Love being able to access streamer wirelessly! Graphics a bit dull. Need to find a better media player that will access album art to display. Had mixed results with PLEX...probably my own lack of know-how as I'm new to diskless musical playback! Still love my turntable and L.P.'s but this is so convenient ;-)

★★☆☆☆ It's ok when it work but that's rather rare occasion. Most of the time don't wanna connect to my Pro-ject streamer so I'm really happy they included standard infrared RC in box. This app devaluate otherwise good streamer.

★★☆☆☆ Causes Maia DS to freeze when turning off Cannot recommend this app. It causes my amp to freeze completely when I attempt to turn it off. Help from customer support via email made no sense and i have not been able to fix the problem even after reinstalling or doing a fresh install on different device. Exact same issue on galaxy s7 and oneplus 3 phones. Maia ds amp isn't cheap so I'm concerned that the freezing, and therefore having to unplug it at the mains is going to damage it. Steer clear. Promises convenience, delivers nothing but problems.

★★☆☆☆ Very rudimentary. In these days of app/tablet control for devices it needs to be a whole load slicker. A device will live or die on the performance of the app to control it. I use it with a DSA. It often doesn't connect to the streamer, but only tells you that after you have gone through menus and done a search in Tidal. The volume control is dire - you can set the app to be a slider - 0-100, but there's no evenness to the motion - it all happens in a small bit of the travel, and what's with the device display in -dB for volume. People using things like this are people, not engineers. Have a 0-100 display, even if you increment in twos or fives. Take a look at the Naim app - it's not perfect, but a whole lot better. It also fails to use the extra space of a tablet - ithas a display that is designed for a phone. Nothing wrong with that in itself, but it get's a bit fisher-price on a larger screen. I rather suspect most people will prefer to use a tablet to control a home based device.
