BrainGames: Learn Through Play

BrainGames is an app of educational games for children aged 3 and up. Guided by Professor Panda, kids learn letters, numbers, colors, shapes and new words through play, at their own pace. A good fit for toddlers, preschool and kindergarten, and for the first steps in reading.

It works without internet. It is free, with no in-app purchases and no sign-up, and is supported by ads suitable for children, which never appear during questions.

LEARNING GAMES
• Letters — the alphabet from A to Z, with every letter's name spoken aloud and a word for each one: "B for BALL"
• Counting — the numbers from 1 to 100
• Addition — first math problems that grow with the child, from 1 to 3 digits
• Colors — the colors, and combining them with shapes, like "the red triangle"
• Shapes — circle, square, triangle, rectangle, star and heart
• Objects — 50 everyday words
• Places — 40 places, like the park and the cinema
• Countries — 100 flags from around the world
• Body — parts of the body, like the hand, the knee and the nose

PLAY TIME
A little learning each day opens play time, with games that are just for fun:
• Buddy Run — pick the plus, minus, times and divide gates to lead the team of bunnies to the bridge
• Balloons — pop the balloons before they float away

HOW IT WORKS
Each learning game has a stage to learn and a stage to practice. There is no ending and no rush: the child leaves whenever they want, and progress never goes down.

The app speaks everything it shows on screen, so children can play on their own before they can read. Professor Panda is always encouraging: a wrong answer is never treated as something negative.

Every right answer earns a star. Stars bring medals and can be traded in the little shop for outfits for Professor Panda and new friends. Everything is earned by playing, never with money.

FOUR LANGUAGES
Available in English, Portuguese, Spanish and Japanese, switched right inside the app. It also lets children hear their first words in another language.

FOR PARENTS AND GUARDIANS
The guardians area is protected by a question only an adult can answer:
• Adjust the professor's voice: which voice, speed and pitch
• Move progress to another phone with a PIN-protected QR code, no internet needed

PRIVACY
BrainGames needs no sign-up and keeps progress only on the device. Ads come from Google AdMob in child-directed mode: rated for everyone, not personalized and without the advertising ID; they only load with internet. The app uses no third-party analytics, and apart from the ads it has no links outside the app.
