Description

BYCATH, aplicación creada por SEO/BirdLife en colaboración con el CEAB-CSIC, permite comunicar las capturas accidentales de fauna marina sensible (aves marinas, cetáceos y otros mamíferos marinos, tortugas marinas, tiburones y otros peces de interés) que se producen durante las actividades de pesca, tanto profesional como recreativa. Estas capturas no deseadas representan una grave amenaza para estos organismos marinos, a la vez que pueden causar molestias y pérdidas a los pescadores.

Los datos obtenidos contribuirán a conocer mejor las capturas accidentales (cuándo, dónde y cómo ocurren, en qué artes y a qué especies afectan) para para entender el problema y encontrar soluciones eficaces y consensuadas.
La aplicación puede trabajar con o sin cobertura de Internet y permite subir datos de capturas y fotos en el momento en que se producen o posteriormente. Está disponible en castellano, catalán, gallego, e inglés.
