Callijatra Calligraphy

Callijatra is a calligraphy studio for the scripts of Nepal — Ranjana and Prachalit (Nepal Lipi), the scripts of the Newa people, alongside Devanagari and the Latin alphabet.

It is built around one idea: a broad nib has an edge. Pull it one way and the stroke is thick; turn it and the line thins to a hairline. Callijatra draws that contrast the way a real pen does, so the letters come out with the weight and rhythm of the hand that has written them for a thousand years.

REAL NIBS AND BRUSHES
• Broad-edge nibs set for Ranjana, Prachalit and Devanagari, with the pen angle each script is written at
• Automatic Pens and a Bamboo Pen with split, combed edges
• Hair brushes that load, drag and run dry — from wet Acrylic to dry, splayed strokes
• Watercolour and ink wash that pool and bloom, chalk, spatter and smudge
• Tune any brush: size, opacity, angle, paint load, edge tear, texture — and save your own presets
• Pressure-sensitive with a stylus, with palm rejection

PAPER THAT BEHAVES LIKE PAPER
• Plain colours or photographed sheets with real tooth that the ink catches on
• Guides and rulings for lettering practice

PRACTICE THE LETTERS
• Letters of Ranjana, Prachalit, Devanagari and the English alphabet to trace
• An accuracy score shows how closely you followed the form
• Watch the stroke order played back for letters that have one recorded

A FULL CANVAS
• Layers with opacity and blend modes
• Select, move, rotate, scale and slice any part of a drawing
• Shapes drawn with the brush in your hand
• Trace a picture or a line of text as a template
• Two-finger tap to undo, three-finger tap to redo

SAVE AND SHARE
• Export a PNG to your gallery or share it to any app
• Export SVG strokes for further work in a design editor

Callijatra is made to help keep Ranjana and Prachalit written by hand — whether you are learning your first letter or lettering a sign, a card or a page
