Description
Classic German Whist — play offline vs a computer opponent. No internet required. No sign-up. Just a smart two-player trick-taking card game with a unique two-phase structure: first build your hand, then play out the endgame. German Whist, also known as Hamburg Whist, is based on classic Whist but designed for two players. Each round starts with a draw-and-play phase where you compete for the face-up card. Once the deck is gone, the final hands are played out trick by trick.
Why you’ll enjoy Classic German Whist: • Offline play — no account required • A true two-player Whist experience • Easy or Hard computer opponent • Classic German Whist with a full 52-card deck • Small Whist option using a 28-card deck • Choose Last 13 or Every Trick scoring • Set the win target to 10, 25 or 50 • Track your stats over time • Review previous tricks • Replay hands from any round • Claim winning tricks faster • AutoPlay options for smoother play • Customize card faces, themes and suit colors
How the game works: German Whist is played in two phases. In the first phase, each trick decides who wins the face-up card from the deck. In the second phase, both players use their final hands to win as many tricks as possible. Players must follow suit if they can. If they cannot follow suit, they may play any card, including a trump card. Whether you know German Whist already or want a compact two-player card game to learn, Classic German Whist gives you a clean offline version you can play at your own pace.

Great but hard mode could be much harder... And to the person that complained about "asking to confirm the move"... it has that, go in options turn off" single click moves"... This option being off should be the default but no big deal... Very solid app and delivers the game perfectly despite those 2 faults I mentioned. I would like to see a good version of Knockout Whist by this developer, also the setting menu is great, maybe change "hard" mode to medium and make a harder hard mode.

One suggestion: in hands where one player has all remaining trump only, it would be nice not to have to play it out IF there is no chance for the computer to take a trick.

I love this game......but only downfall is that the cards are very close together and if a card is played in error there is no way to undo the play. There probably should be an option to ask....are you sure you want to play this card?

There is something very odd with deck-management. Whist is a heavy card-counting game and German Whist even more so. You use every card in each game (2 sets of 13 tricks). The issue is this: You have said KS come face up in the draw pile. Your opponent plays QS, you take the king with the Ace in your hand. Now you have KS, QS and AS go to discard, meaning you now know you have the highest spade in play. Several tricks later, the card you deliberately sent to discard, AS, comes up in play, either in the draw or the opponent plays it. That can't happen, but I have had things like this happen several times, especially since I started paying attention. If dead cards don't stay dead, there is no way to intelligently play the game.
