it's good if you want picture in picture mode, but otherwise you can use firefox with an ad blocker. It has banner ads on non-video pages which sometimes autoplay audio. They can be closed but also sometimes new ones just pop up immediately when trying. it's annoying but less so than ad breaks in videos. Video previews playing when scrolling homepage is also annoying but that's YouTube's fault, not this app.

I am so grateful that Clean Tube provides ad blocking when watching Vids. I hate the wait time and being forced to watch crazy ads. I do ask that there be a [SORT/FILTER function]. I know it's supposed to be at the search bar - but it just disappears after search, and it won't go into the filter menu. I went landscape mode and still the filter menu is gone. Please fix.

Edit: AND THE DEVS DO IT AGAIN - back to give stars - Sept26. ALL HAIL THE DEVS - no really, every time there is an issue they update as soon as they can. This app is ABSOLUTELY amazing, with all your usual YouTube interface and even MORE stuff apart from no ads. I survive with this app in a very noisy environment, thanks to the devs xxx

The ads on the homepage are getting more intrusive now, they follow you when you scroll down and new ones pop up more frequently. This update is ok, it added some jank with starting videos and selecting captions/video speed. What is annoying is that videos are appearing in my history that I haven't watched. Every update comes with problems like these, but I'm most worried about the ads. Yes, the ads here are far better than the ones on real YouTube, but if they get any worse at all I'm done
