Description by Peter Shashkin(from Google Play)
Already organized your music in folders? Folder Player gives you direct access to your audio library :) Folder Player is FREE (NO Ads, NO in-app purchases!), minimalistic yet powerful alternative music player which uses folders as playlists to play music or audiobooks, supporting in-folder images as album art and playback of video formats using audio-only.
Longer Story:
Folder Player is a freeware which knows how to play whole directories. It can browse and play individual files, folders, or full folder trees.
Why another music player for Android?
There are many great mp3 players out there. If you're happy with them, you probably don't need another one. But chances are, you have the same problem as I had before I created this app - you tried many players, and your mp3 tag-based access to your music still too cumbersome, because your world defined - yes - by folders.
Is Folder Player a solution? ****************************
If you need advanced capabilities of a desktop player - Folder Player is probably not the right fit. This player focuses on things that really are important: browsing and playing music on a portable device, and that's exactly what makes this app stand out.

If you like the player - it is important to rate this app - here is why: More people rate it -> more people see it -> more feedback -> more updates
(by the way, same applies to other apps you like, rate them too!)
Other features include:
- integration with Bluetooth headphones - Android Auto - integration with last.fm (via scrobbler) - pauses during phone calls and navigation speech - sequential and random play - configurable settings - Equalizer - Double press headset button to skip track - Search - Temporary playlist "Play Next"

Best no fuss music player I've found. If you prefer to organize your own life (eg: all MP3 files in folders by artist) and ignore tags, this is it. UPDATE: discovered after more testing that previously reported channel dropout requires 3 conditions - setting stereo balance off center (even slightly), enabling equalizer, and interrupting playback (pausing or skipping). Weird, but centering the stereo balance avoids the issue. UPDATE: Problem solved. Not the app. Old android version bug!

This player works well for me. I like storing music via folders, nice and organized. A MAJOR bonus to me is that it plays (virtually) any media file in the folder as audio. So, I can keep music videos where they would logically go (at least logical to me) and it will play them back as if there were straight audio. The only reason that I'm giving four stars is that it sometimes hangs, but this *may* be my files.... looking into this.

With moto g60 android 12: the app does not start up and the search engine settings are changed (after a reboot of android there is a notification, is for searching on the android home screen), deleting the cache and storage data and a reinstallation does not fix the problem, the app causes screen flickering when the permission setting screen is shown on startup

After uninstalling Folder Player and restarting my phone and then reinstalling and restarting and then uninstalling and reinstalling, etc. etc. Folder Player finally found my mp3 files. Wonderful. Except Folder Player will not actually play my files. I give up.

App no longer shows MP3 files after Android 14 update. It only shows folders, which makes this app not fit for purpose. 1 star until fixed. No excuses from dev accepted.

I don't know why, since a few weeks ago, the randon function is repeating only 10–12 musics from a folder where I keep almost 200 musics. That is not the behavior expected from a folder player app. The only way to listen all musics is in alphabetical order...
