This is a fork of the Syncthing-Android wrapper for Syncthing that brings major enhancements like: * Folder, device and overall sync progress can easily be read off the UI. * "Syncthing Camera" - an optional feature (with optional permission to use the camera) where you can take pictures with your friend, partner, ... on two phones into one shared and private Syncthing folder. No cloud involved. - FEATURE CURRENTLY IN BETA STAGE - * "Sync every hour" to save even more battery * Individual sync conditions can be applied per device and per folder * Recent changes UI, click to open files. * Changes to folder and device config can be made regardless if Syncthing is running or not * UI explains why syncthing is running or not. * "Battery eater" problem is fixed. * Discover other Syncthing devices on the same network and easily add them. * Supports two-way synchronization on external SD card since Android 11.
Syncthing-Fork for Android is a wrapper for Syncthing that provides an Android UI instead of Syncthing's built-in Web UI. Syncthing replaces proprietary sync and cloud services with something open, trustworthy and decentralized. Your data is your data alone and you deserve to choose where it is stored, if it is shared with some third party and how it's transmitted over the Internet.
Goals of the fork: * Develop and try out enhancements together with the community. * Release the wrapper more frequently to identify and fix bugs caused by changes in the syncthing submodule * Make enhancements configurable in the UI, users should be able to turn them on and off
Comparison between upstream and fork at the time of writing this: * Both contain the syncthing binary built from the official source at GitHub * Syncing functionality and reliability depends on the syncthing binary submodule version. * Fork gets along with upstream and sometimes they pick up my improvements. * Strategy and release frequency is different * Only the wrapper containing the Android UI is addressed by the fork.

Fantastic app, better than the operating system it's running on honestly. The worst part about it is I can't sync my Downloads folder, but that's Google's fault, because they decided Downloads' folder is special and needs to be protected. ๐คฆ I'm still a little confused about where OG sync thing app went and why we're using something with called fork. Is it really a fork if it's the only option? Begs the question: is the fork under the banner of sync thing proper? Is it open source?

Aside from the occasional file conflict from files that haven't changed, it works great. I don't believe the issue is unique to Android.

Really great app for syncing files across multiple computers. I mainly use it to sync files with Obsidian. This app provides a great alternative to cloud based file sync options and for people who can't afford Obsidian sync

Unless you have a technical background, don't use this. You'll end up deleting all of your files from all devices. It's unreliable, clunky to set up, and the UI just isn't great. I'm surprised there's not a better version of this. Shame as it has a lot of potential, but it seems the default design is to let the app just remove all of your files with no versioning turned on by default. Be warned, great risk of losing all your files.

I don't know what happened but in the last month, battery drain has been ABYSMAL. Like 60% of battery usage. By the mid-afternoon, I'm already running out of battery. It's a great app otherwise, but the battery drain is really killing the experience.

Deleted all other folder files on the picked directory without warnings, did not create a subfolder for it

Very glitchy. Great idea but it says "out of sync" when it works perfectly, and it says "up to date" when it's not. I display conflicts when there are no conflicts, and it says nothing when the app is broken.

Unfortunately it's unusable with how limited its view of the Android directory it has for what I need. Was trying to use to sync a folder in my Termux directory, but it can't find it like Total Commander file manager can.
