Generally pretty good platform for selling unneeded items Locally. Sadly there are far too many Time wasters, but no fault of GumTree. 4 stars because it's changed such that you can't review the Time wasters, as can now only leave reviews IF ITEM DID SELL ! But can't really complain as (unlike Ebay which is getting worse and worse) it is FREE to use :-)

Very useful for buying and selling stuff locally. And good to recycle stuff no longer required for free. The messaging mechanism could be better than it often takes people a long time to respond.

Terrible - recent update has seen private advert photos disappear, you have to click on an item to see what it is, impossible to just browse. I have at least 10 saved searches which I regularly use, which is now pointless because all I can see are photos of sponsored sellers 👎 Trying to make it work like eBay and failing miserably. Why do Gumtree improvements always make it worse?

I tried to delete my account for days now, they make it very complicated. Now I realize it's all for the ongoing scam, so when they advertise, we have millions of accounts please bear in mind that most of them are not active.

Avoid all cost, no customer service, online chat only, have to stay on the screen for over 30 mins,I try to sell something on Gumtree and my ad removed instantly, even new on Gumtree, received email payment successful even I didn't make any payment, i think it's all about money, keep pop message saying pay money to list, when it supposes to be a free selling website, this app try to heck your personal information, like a said didn't make any payment, and I received email saying payment successful. Beware

After having spent the last 3 weeks trying to find a car on gumtree, I'm giving up! There's no meaningful way of contacting the seller, you leave a message and wait for a response. There's about a 1% chance that you'll get a response. Either the sellers are not being notified or the vast majority of ads are FAKE. At a minimum 2 things need to be done. 1. Sellers should be compelled to leave a valid phone number. 2. Message notification permissions should be mandatory for seller.
