Description
Explore the fascinating world of biological macromolecules: iMolview lets you browse and view in 3D protein and DNA structures from Protein Data Bank, drug molecules from DrugBank, and small molecules from Pubchem. Search for drug names like 'ibuprofen' or 'gefitinib' in DrugBank, or proteins like 'insulin' or 'thyroid receptor' or pdb code in PDB. Information associated with each molecule in these databases is also at your fingertips. Sync and view your own structure files via iMolview folder on your sdcard. Molecular view can be customized with a rich set of molecular representations (wires, balls-and-sticks, space filling, ribbon diagrams, molecular surfaces) and various coloring schemes. Select residues, atoms or chains and color or change their representations individually. Set 'inertia' to the maximum and let your molecule spin in 3D indefinitely. IMPORTANT! The current version has a problem with certain old HTC phones. This issue will be fixed in the next version.

It seems to have all the features I need, which is nice, BUT. I have a real trouble trying to select amino acid residues from the sequence bar on the bottom, as well as chains and small molecules themselves. Maybe my fingers are too large or the screen is too high-res, all the same - it doesn't work the way it's supposed to. Having used the app for three months I only managed to access the tool 2 or 3 times, after giving it hundreds of tries. Secondly, after rotating the structure in every direction a couple of times, zooming in and out, the image begins to crop itself and drown in gray fog. Maybe it's just the limitations of Androids, but still it would be awesome to have this fixed. So for now (for me at least) the app works best for educational purposes: it's really nice to show your students what small molecules look like and to be able to demonstrate chirality in 3D rather than with static drawings on paper. One wish tho: please include trigonal bipyramidal and octahedral structures for species like PF5, PF6 -, Fe(CN)6 3- etc.

Simple, useful, powerful I've been looking for a good molecular viewing program for a while since I'm working on modeling for my masters and this one's the best by far. Simple pdb look-up is wonderful, and having pdb metadata on my phone is incredible. Structures are displayed intuitively and tools are functional. The only criticisms I have are: selecting individual atoms is frustrating, and that I can't figure it how to adjust the slice width which also makes selections frustrating.

The problem of no response when trying to load from pdb has not been resolved with this new update. Not sure if it is the Android 4.4.2 or hardware now.

I download and download iMovie Lite. For so many times by now. i. don't. Know. When. I'm. Going. To. Rate. iMovie Lite. . I finally rate it. I one star because it's so f****** laggy. Very very laggy.SOSOSOLAGGYI.
