I have been trialing the Homer Player for an elderly relative in a nursing home. I've been running version 0.6.9 on an old Huawei GS700 phone with Android 4.2. The player has performed extremely well on this phone - I've been able to get more than 20 hrs listening from a single charge and in standby mode the charge lasts seven days. Very impressive! Using just the internal ROM, I was able to load 10 books on to the phone. With a 16 GB SD card loaded, the phone could hold many dozens of books. Full kiosk mode isn't implemented for Android 4.2 but the limited kiosk mode works very well indeed. And turning off the player by simply turning it over is a great idea. Homer is extremely easy to use, and I am greatly looking forward to giving it to my aunt loaded up with books and ready to go. She struggled using a CD/MP3 player to listen to audiobooks. Changing the battery and the disks was a difficult task for her. I am sure she will find listening to books on the Huawei with the Homer player much easier. Kudos to Marcin for developing this player and for all the support he provides to users.

Very Promising! For the past week I have been searching for an audiobook reader with a simple interface, suited for the visually impaired. Strangely enough, those readers are NOT designed for what I believed to be the main target group. Even the best one had too many buttons and was not suitable for my mother-in-law. This Homer Player, even in its initial stage and with only a basic start/stop button, is already functional enough so that I am convinced that my relative will be able to handle it. And the Kiosk mode would just be awesome. Kudos, kind regards.
