Comments on Complete Music Reading Trainer for Android
★★★★★Alpacalypse· Apr 5, 2026
This is an amazing app that makes learning notes easy and fun. I also very much appreciate that the full version is a one time purchase instead of a subscription (A trend I despise) Its one of the few times ive ever paid for an app, and I was happy to do so. One small issue is sometimes the app doesn't pick up the sound of my piano (even if I play loudly) but this is usually solved by restarting the drill. I would love to see an app or function that lets you practice cords and actual songs.

This is a great app for learning how to read music. Even if you have no experience reading music, the drills in the app increase in difficulty at a very comfortable pace, and you pick it up in no time. Repetition is key, and you can redo all the drills as many times as you want since the notes are randomized each time you start a drill. While the app does have milestones or achievements to unlock, the real focus is simply learning to read sheet music practically and it works!

Each drill starts so quickly that I miss the first 2 notes, & then I am behind & frustrated for the rest of the drill. It feels like Lucy & Ethel in the candy factory. Even though I easily recognize a G and a C note, I end up with a low score. And there is no way to slow the drill-down. Also, it is distracting to have a high C on the staff, but only middle C available to select on the keyboard. I wanted to practice the notes above & below the staff, but uninstalled.

Not bad, but the new notes are presented much too fast. You start with C and G in treble clef. Those and those only in constantly changing order should be presented for at least several hundred rotations before the B is added. Several hundred rotations with G, C, and B, and so on. Anything else and you're only fooling yourself.

2 seconds in, at least with the bass clef, the piano is backwards. C is the higher note but is on the left. Maybe for "training" but if you are playing a higher note it needs to be on the right of the lower G.
