Followed instructions to the letter, tried multiple times and contact backup failed to restore on second device. Backup was generated on old device, emailed and downloaded to new device and the restore looked like it was successful, but the contacts don't appear in the new phone. Tried SMS as well, backup generated, emailed, and it wouldn't even open on the new device. Waste of a lot of time.

This is stupid. I just want to restore a .vcf backup file in my downloads to my contacts on Samsung phone, but it will not do that.
