Born in the heart of Detroit in the 1940s, this style of pizza took shape in the unlikeliest of places: old blue steel pans, originally used for automotive parts. The result was something unique – a deep, rectangular pizza with a thick, chewy crust that’s crispy on the outside but airy and soft on the inside. This pizza’s hallmark is its caramelized, cheesy crust, made by layering Wisconsin brick cheese all the way to the edges. Topped with rich, savory sauce spread in bold streaks across the surface, Detroit-style pizza combines the soul of comfort food with an unforgettable crunch.

Introducing Detroit-style pizza to the West Coast offers a taste experience that’s hard to find outside of the Midwest. While this area has no shortage of classic pizzerias, there’s no option that brings the unique flair of Detroit-style pizza. Many locals and tourists already love great food experiences and are eager to discover something new, especially with the rise in popularity of regional American pizza styles. This pizza’s thick crust, edge-to-edge cheese, and layering of sauce on top set it apart from the more traditional pizzas the area is accustomed to. Unlike the thinner styles often found on the West Coast, Detroit-style pizza is hearty, satisfying, and perfect for sharing. The unique preparation offers a fun experience that appeals to food enthusiasts looking for bold new flavors and textures. Its crunchy, cheesy edges and pillowy crusts create an addictive combination that keeps customers coming back.
