DOF Wildlife Photography

Stop losing once-in-a-lifetime wildlife photos to blur and shallow depth of field.

Every wildlife photographer knows the frustration: you capture a rare moment with a lion or a bird, the eye is perfectly in focus, but when you check it on a large monitor, the animal’s body is a blur. Or worse, you closed your aperture to f/22 to get more depth, only to find the entire image soft due to diffraction.

Wildlife DOF Helper is the professional-grade tool designed to solve these optical traps in the field. Using advanced Augmented Reality (ARCore), it provides millimetric precision to ensure your subject is sharp from front to back, without ever sacrificing sensor resolution.

Why use Wildlife DOF Helper?

1. Precision AR Distance (No Subject Needed) Forget guessing distances or relying on inconsistent lens scales. Point your phone at the spot where the animal is—or where it will be. Measure a branch, a tree, or a rock with ARCore’s depth-sensing technology to get a centimetric reading before the action even starts.
2. The Smart "Eye-Focus" Rule Modern mirrorless cameras focus on the eye, but standard DOF calculators assume focus is in the center of the subject. Our engine is smarter: it calculates the aperture based on a 1/3 front / 2/3 rear distribution, ensuring that when you lock onto the eye, the required depth covers the rest of the animal’s body.
3. Real-Time Sharpness Warning (Diffraction Alert) High-resolution sensors like the Sony A1, Nikon Z9, or Canon R5 II have physical limits. If you close your diaphragm too much, you lose fine detail. Our app calculates your sensor's specific Airy Disk limit and warns you with a "LOSS OF SHARPNESS" alert the moment your aperture starts destroying detail.
4. Professional Field Planner Planning a shot? Use the manual parameters to simulate different scenarios. Change your focal length (e.g., 400mm to 600mm), adjust the subject size (Small, Medium, Large, or Custom), and see exactly which aperture you need to stay in the "Green Zone."

Professional Features:

• Real-time AR measurement: Millimetric accuracy using your phone's sensors.
• Aperture Suggestions: Automatically find the best f-stop based on animal size.
• Pre-measure Mode: Measure the environment before the animal arrives.
* Supported Gear: Pre-configured data for professional bodies (Canon R Series, Nikon Z, Sony A7/A9/A1, and more).
• Custom Mode: Enter your specific Pixel Pitch and CoC for any camera system.
• 100% Offline & Private: No data leaves your device. Built for the remote wilderness.

Don't leave your sharpness to chance. Whether you are shooting macro insects or distant mammals, Wildlife DOF Helper gives you the mathematical certainty to press the shutter with confidence.
