Dog Calorie Calculator

Dog Calorie Calculator is a simple mobile app created for owners who want to understand feeding numbers without complicated tables or confusing charts.

The app helps estimate a dog energy target from basic body details, activity, and life stage. You enter weight, choose pounds or kilograms, select a profile, adjust activity, and get a clear result that can be used as a starting point when planning meals.

The main screen is built to be fast. Instead of asking dozens of questions, it focuses on the values that matter most: body size, profile, and movement level. After tapping the calculate button, the app shows a result window with the estimated kcal amount, resting energy, meal share, treat allowance, and protein minimum.

The calculation uses a common RER formula as a foundation. This gives a base number, then the app applies profile and activity multipliers to make the result more practical. A calm indoor companion, an active adult, a puppy, and a working animal should not be treated the same way, so the result changes depending on the selected profile.

The result is not meant to be a strict prescription. It is an educational estimate that helps you begin with a reasonable number, then watch body condition over time. If the animal gains too much, the amount may be reduced. If the animal becomes too lean or lacks energy, the amount may be adjusted upward.

The app also includes a treat limit based on the common 10% rule. This helps owners see how many snack calories may fit into the day without replacing balanced meals. It is useful when training rewards, chews, biscuits, or small extras start to quietly add up.

A separate protein tool gives a simple minimum estimate in grams. This can help users think beyond total energy and remember that meals should also support muscle, maintenance, and healthy body condition.

The activity adjuster makes it easier to compare different lifestyles. A quiet day at home can produce a different estimate than a long walk, sporty play, or working routine. This is helpful when the same animal has very different days across the week.

The ideal target section can be used when gradual loss is the goal. Instead of building the result only from the current body value, the user can enter a healthier target and see a more cautious starting estimate. This section is especially useful when portion control needs to be more structured.

The app is designed as a free helper, not as veterinary treatment. Puppies, pregnant or nursing animals, underweight companions, obesity cases, prescription diets, illness, or senior routines should be reviewed with a veterinarian or qualified specialist.

Some public educational resources from ohio state veterinary materials and purina feeding guidance discuss similar energy concepts, but this app is independent and has no alliance with any brand, university, clinic, or institution.

The interface is clean and focused on quick use. Results appear in a readable pop-up, while extra tools remain available below the main screen. This keeps the first action simple, while still giving more detail when the owner wants it.

Dog Calorie Calculator is useful when feeding labels feel too broad, when homemade tracking becomes messy, or when different activity days make portion planning difficult. It gives one organized place to estimate intake, snack limits, protein, and ideal target guidance.

The app does not store personal accounts, does not require registration, and does not ask for private owner details to perform the calculation. It works as a practical pocket reference that can be opened whenever a feeding routine changes.

Use it when changing meals, checking portions, comparing activity levels, planning treats, or discussing feeding targets with a professional. It turns a common energy requirement into a clear mobile result that is easy to understand and adjust.
