Really good app to learn written Chinese (simplified). Not particularly 'beginner-friendly', but that's not really the point of this app (start with Duolingo or Hello Chinese etc.). For learning writing though, no other app comes close to this. The forced repetition of writing the characters really makes you learn them. My only gripe is there isn't a 'trace' function to help you learn the strokes at first - you basically have to watch the pattern then just try and replicate, which can be hard.

It is a good app, but requires internet, so can't be used offline. It's frustrating because I wanted to study on my road trip, and I found out it doesn't even skip the login page as soon as I was without signal. EDIT: most apps allow you to download text and audio (fizzle, du, jiu, chineseskill, etc.). I understand your concern about videos, they are quite heavy, but if we have storage, even YouTube app allow us to download. It's not necessary to download the entire app. Please consider! Farewell!

I selected traditional Chinese and even confirmed it in the options, but the test is still in simplified. And there's no instructions whatsoever about how to actually answer the test questions

Was good at the beginning, but now it keeps drowning me in mostly new words even if I turn it down to 0 in settings. The translations are not literal, so it's harder to learn. Generally, changing the settings is not doing anything. Not for new words frequency, nor audio speed, nor word list, or anything. The only thing I got to change is the traditional letters button. Now I can't use the app any more (even though I paid) - the audio delay is too long so I hear the sound in the wrong questions
