Draw & Paint: Sketchflow

Trace photos and practice drawing on paper with Sketchflow. Use camera tracing, a screen lightbox or drawing grids to turn your reference images into sketches, one line at a time.

Choose a picture from your gallery or explore the template library. Practice with portraits, pets, flowers, landscapes and everyday objects, whether you are starting your first sketch or working on a new drawing.

Camera tracing
See your reference image over the live camera view while you draw on paper. Place your phone securely on a stand, position the image and adjust its transparency so you can follow the guide on your screen. Use zoom for details, lock the image in position and turn on the flashlight when you need more light.

Screen lightbox
Use your phone or tablet as a lightbox for tracing. Open an image, adjust the screen brightness and place thin tracing paper over the display. Touch lock helps keep the image in place as you follow its outlines.

Grid drawing
Break a reference image into smaller sections with a drawing grid. Adjust the rows, columns and line thickness, then copy the image onto a matching grid on your paper or canvas. Work one square at a time to practice proportions, placement and detail.

Your photos, your drawings
Import a photo from your gallery and use it as a drawing reference. Sketch a pet, practice a portrait or work from a picture that inspires you. You can also choose ready-made templates when you want a quick starting point.

A simple way to start
1. Choose a photo or template.
2. Select camera tracing, lightbox or grid mode.
3. Adjust your reference to suit your drawing.
4. Pick up a pencil and begin.

Sketchflow brings three drawing tools together so you can choose the method that suits your next sketch. Trace an outline, explore shapes and add your own shading and details at your own pace.

For camera tracing, you draw on real paper while looking at the guide on your device's screen. The phone does not project light or an image onto the paper. Use a stable stand and good lighting for a clearer view.
