Most states require a set number of night hours. Drive Log calculates local sunrise and sunset and splits each drive automatically, using your own state's definition of "night". No stopwatch maths at the kerb.

All 50 states and DC are included, with the total hours, night hours, and minimum permit-holding period each one asks for. Sources are cited in the app, and anything we could not confirm from an official state source is marked so you can double-check it with your DMV. Driver's ed reduces the hours in Oregon, Arizona, Massachusetts and Minnesota - switch it on in Settings.

Recent changes:
New: if a drive was left running for hours, the app asks before saving it. Driver's ed now lowers the required hours in Oregon, Arizona, Massachusetts and Minnesota (switch in Settings). Fixed: night minutes on clock-change days, manual drives that end before they start, double-tap Save, setup stuck on Setting up, short drives showing 0.0h. Restore purchase in Settings. The free version shows a small banner on History and on Timer when no drive is running; Pro removes it.
