The elementary tactics one and two are amazing. I highly suggest doing them before tactics for beginners by the same publisher chess king. First, read a tactics primer like back to basics tactics by Heisman or predator on the chessboard. Then start doing these tactics. A good checkmate primer is checkmate for kids by Kevin Stark. Once I read these primers my understanding skyrocketed. I know what to do in a lot of positions instead of just brute forcing every check capture and threat.

Elementary Tactics 2 is an outstanding continuation. The puzzles remain high quality and book-based, but the positions are more demanding and calculation-oriented. The themes are deeper, and mistakes are punished more, which forces more accurate visualization. I’ve benefited immensely from using this app. It strengthened my calculation, sharpened my tactical awareness, and helped bridge the gap between basic motifs and real game tactics. Strongly recommended.

Very important to repeat these until it feels "natural".... Improves your sense/ tactical vision which is mostly needed in short time controls and in longer time controls will help steer direction of calculation against sub 1800 who eventually fall to tactics anyway.
