This is a great app to learn how to write kanji. The layout is easy to understand. It uses basic phrases and often pictures to help put kanji into context, which is very useful. Occasionally, however, the phrases are Japanese idioms and makes learning doubly difficult.

This app is good for N4 proficiency+ wanting to improve on kanji you have already studied. It's not for an introduction, but does mention the pronunciations. There are sentences to fill as usual, but after it shows a fun illustration which helps if you didn't quite understand the sentence. It also draws a 'perfect' form of the kanji under your brush strokes, so you can see the ideal shapes. It's also smooth-functioning compared to a lot of similar apps.

How come the first time you see a kanji the app test you to write it down?. No tracing first, no learning stroke order, nothing. Just a blank area to write it down. You actually have to fail it (by still guessing the stroke order) in order to access the practice part.
