It does what it promises There is a reason they put a warning in the description. ANDROID JUST DOESN'T SUPPORT EMOJIS. That's why you have to type your message into a separate box and copy and paste it somewhere else. It will look to you like boxes, but iPhones will still read them as emojis. And if you see a tweet (including yours) with the squares, open the tweet, hit Share -> Emoji Codec and it will DECODE the emojis for you. Hence it being a CODEC.

No iOS 5 Emoji I have been using Emoji Codec since early December, & it is my go-to app for viewing emoji. However, it says in the Play store description that this app is supposed to decode iOS 5 emoji...FALSE. Emoji Codec neither contains nor decodes the new emoji; instead, they still show up as "Japanese" symbols or number sequences in Codec. The newer set includes more animals, more expressions, more humans, flags, clothing, etc (happened to see them on an actual iPhone). Please UPDATE your app to include the new emoji

Does what it says. I just wanted to see the emoji images in tweets. So just use any twitter app Share option and share to Emoji Codec. I tested with 10 random tweets, Emoji Codec displayed the images for 9 of the 10 tweets. Seems there's an Emoji2 IOS app so maybe the Emoji Codec does not contain those emojis but dunno.
