Lead a civilization from its first settlement into the modern age in Empires, a turn-based 4X strategy game of exploration, city building, research, diplomacy, and conquest.
Begin in 4000 BC with a settler and a warrior. Found cities, explore a changing world of continents and islands, and make the most of its resources, forests, hills, and mountain passes. Balance food, production, gold, and science as you build an empire ready to face its rivals.
Choose from 18 leaders and civilizations. Meet AI rivals through exploration, negotiate during peacetime, trade gold for technology, request tribute, or declare war. Prepare your forces, defend your cities, and capture enemy territory when your military is strong enough. Build and command land, naval, and air units as new technologies become available.
Advance through a technology tree that spans ancient discoveries to modern inventions. A more deliberate pace for production and research gives civilizations time to expand, prepare for conflict, and develop beyond 0 AD. Explore the map in 2D or 2.5D, zoom in to plan your next move, and shape history one turn at a time.
