Encounter Atlas: UFO & Bigfoot

Encounter Atlas is a map of strange stuff. UFO sightings, Bigfoot reports, Dogman, Mothman, sea serpents, lake monsters and a few hundred other creatures from folklore around the world, all in one place.

Open it and it shows you what's been seen near you. Not just in the US. We cover Canada, the UK, Ireland, Australia, South America and a lot more, and distances show in km or miles, whichever you like.

What's inside:

• Near me. Tap once and see the reports, famous cases and creature hot spots around you, sorted by distance.
• The full map. Decades of declassified Air Force UFO files, reader reports, famous cases and the places tied to each creature.
• Road trip planner. Put in where you're starting and where you're going and it finds everything strange along the way, leg by leg. There are ready-made trips too, like Route 66, the Pacific Northwest Bigfoot loop and the Mothman country of the Ohio Valley.
• Collector cards. Visit a real spot tied to a creature and check in to collect its card.
• Sighting alerts. Pick a place and how far out you care about, and get a notification when a new report comes in nearby. Three a day at most, and you can turn them off any time.
• Listen along. Podcast episodes about the creatures and cases, played in order along your road trip. They keep playing with the screen off.
• Tonight's skywatch. What's up in the sky tonight where you are: the Moon, bright planets, Space Station passes, meteor showers and the cloud forecast, so you know if a light was a planet before you panic.
• Field journal. Jot down what you saw, when and for how long, right on your phone. Turn a note into a report when you're ready.
• Campfire mode. Big text, dark screen, stories made for reading out loud.
• Report what you saw. Every report gets read by a person before it goes up, and your exact spot is never shown. The public map rounds it to about 5 km.
• Creature guides. Where the legend comes from, what people say they saw, and where to go look for yourself.

No account needed and no ads. Your location only gets used when you tap "Use my location", it's rounded on your phone first, and we don't keep it (unless you save a place for alerts). Your saved trips, cards and journal stay on your device.

I'm Mike, and I built this because I wanted one place that put all of it together without the junk. If you've seen something, I want to hear about it.
