Environmental Weeds of Australia has been developed to assist with the identification of weed species that invade natural habitats. It is a valuable resource for all those concerned about environmental weeds: weed and biodiversity researchers, trainers, advisors, weed control officers, environmental community groups, weed management practitioners, and anyone with an interest in environmental weeds.
While Australian focused, this key provides an excellent resource to users in other countries. Both plain English and botanical terms (usually in brackets) are used throughout the App to make it applicable to as wide an audience as possible.
At the core of this App is an interactive Lucid identification key to 1020 plant species that are either significant or emerging environmental weeds in Australia. To help confirm the identification of weed species the app provides over 10,000 photos and a wealth of information on each weed species and how to distinguish between very similar species. In many cases, links are provided to websites that have relevant information about the management of specific weed species.

Excellent This smartphone version of the Environmental Weeds of Australia DVD I'd tool provides full portability and is a self-contained download - exactly what is needed when identifying plants in the field away from cellphone reception. Hundreds of species are covered with numerous characters and images available to identify them.

Great App Love this app, all the species and then some, lots of relevant information and photos. The only issue is a tendency to lose access to the photos from time to time, the only solution seems to be to open and kill the app repeatedly. Is there a fix in the future?

Great ID resource Pros: First useful guide to weeds in Australia I've come across for Android. Love that it can be run without Wi-Fi access, unlike many other keys I've tried. Easy to use. Photos are clear well when my Nexus 10 is in portrait mode Cons: Photos are blurry if the Nexus 10 is used in landscape mode (too few pixels in photos for this), but may be OK for a 7" tablet. Tick boxes for selecting features are incredibly faint - initially got frustrated using the app as I wasn't aware they were there and couldn't see how to select a feature. Correction needed: lesser canary grass (Polaris minor) hasn't been entered correctly, so doesn't sort correctly - scientific name and common name have been reversed.

Better to use the internet. After using it for a while I found it wasn't very helpful as an identification tool or even to look up plants when you know the name.
