Equal Earth: True World Map

Did you know that Greenland looks larger than South America on a standard map, yet South America is actually eight times bigger?

Welcome to Equal Earth, the interactive geography tool designed to reveal the real, undistorted scale of our planet. Most conventional maps rely on the 16th-century Mercator projection, which severely stretches landmasses near the poles while shrinking regions near the equator. Equal Earth lets you uncover the truth by moving, comparing, and analyzing countries with true proportional accuracy.

🌍 KEY FEATURES

• Drag & Compare Countries: Pick any country, territory, or state and drag it anywhere on the globe. Watch its shape automatically adjust to reflect its genuine physical size.
• True Scale vs. Mercator Mode: Instantly switch between true equal-area scale and standard Mercator views to clearly see cartographic distortion in action.
• Side-by-Side Comparison: Duplicate shapes to place countries directly alongside each other. Put Greenland next to Africa, compare Australia to the United States, or see how European nations fit inside Texas or Brazil.
• Rotate & Align: Freely rotate landmasses for precision alignment and clear visual comparisons.
• Rich Geographic Data: Access accurate land area metrics (square kilometers and square miles), total population, capitals, and real-time distortion multipliers.
• Curated Presets: Jump into eye-opening historical and geographic comparisons with one tap.
• Data & Comparison Table: Sort, search, and rank active countries by land area, population density, and geographic scale.
• Cartography & Distortion Guide: Learn the science behind map projections and why standard classroom maps distort our worldview.

🎓 PERFECT FOR
