Description
This is the Free version of the EV Watchdog App.
Please try the Free version and visit the website to see the added features you'll have with this version.
This App accesses the car data through the OBD2 interface to monitor and process a wide range of data from the drive battery and electric motor. Live data is then displayed in a convenient way on multiple screens from where you can swipe from one to another (see the screenshots). Several statistical data are also computed by the App and a full historical log of the trips and of the drive battery condition is maintained.
In order for that to be possible you will need an adapter that will be plugged into the OBD2 port and perform the communications between the App and the Car. You can find many of these adapters online for a very reasonable price. In addition at this moment, Bluetooth or Wi-Fi (that is the communication between the App and the adapter) are supported by the App.
Please check the website to learn more about OBD2 protocol and for a complete list of adapters reported to work with the App.
The EV Watchdog App will run on any Android device with a minimum version of Android v4.1 (Jelly Bean) and that has Bluetooth or Wi-Fi available.
If you have your device's location enabled (GPS) this will add location and altitude data, but it is not mandatory in order for the App to work.
At the moment the following EV models are supported by the App:
Hyundai Ioniq Electric (upto 2022) Hyundai Ioniq 5 (upto 2022) Hyundai Kona/Kauai Electric (upto 2022) KIA eNiro (upto 2022) KIA eSoul (upto 2021) KIA EV6 (upto 2022) MG ZS EV (upto 2021) Jaguar I-Pace (upto 2022)
Recent changes: Fixed GPS not reporting correct location/altitude.

After working flawlessly for years, suddenly constant issues. Hopefully, the app will get some updates soon.

It works perfect on my Niro EV. I uesd the app on Outlander PHEV and I wanted it for Niro for years. Excellent work 👏

Brilliant for EVs, works Great with decent OBDII Dongle! But don't expect a cheap knock-off OBDII dongle to work as most don't support all the protocols they claim in adverts. At last, I can see battery SoC on MG ZS EV! Great to see energy usage as I drive and how much regeneration and to optimize my driving style and range. Plus I'm able to check individual cell voltages

I don't run / have any of what the GitHub site says is needed "Required Software: Torque Pro or Engine Link or Car Scanner Pro". Perhaps I should have dobe better research, or maybe I missed a warning. I have other software that sees thd Bluetooth dongle. This one bizarrely expects my phone to be paired with it (it's, for other EV software), so it can't see the dongle. Perhaps its just me but I never got off first base.
